Overview: “Open CourseWare (OCW)” primarily consists of self-study resources and knowledge made available by the university. Learners can set their own learning goals and choose how they engage with the content. The materials may also serve as a preview to help prospective students plan their future coursework, or as a review resource for those who have already completed a course.

Description: For faculty, OCW not only makes high-quality course resources publicly accessible but also provides a valuable reference for colleagues and new faculty during course preparation. Full-time and part-time faculty at our university may apply independently or be nominated by their college. Upon approval, the CTLD assists with course production. OCW video content is available on the “NCCU DKB.” We welcome faculty to join and let your expertise shine on a wider stage!

Model Example: Prof. Fong-mao Lee of the NCCU Center for the Study of Chinese Religions won the  Best OpenCourseWare Award at the 2025 Taiwan Open Education Excellence Award for his course “Seminar in Taoist Culture and Literature.” Prof. Lee’s course is not only substantive in content but also explains complex expertise in a clear and accessible way — a true model of OCW teaching. If you’ve been thinking about how to make your courses more visible and your knowledge more widely shared, we encourage you to take a look at Prof. Lee’s course for inspiration.
