To help new faculty members quickly integrate into the campus environment, understand available teaching resources, and grasp the essentials of course design, the Center for Teaching and Learning Development at National Chengchi University (NCCU) organizes a "New Faculty Orientation Workshop." This intensive three-day, two-night program is designed to provide a comprehensive starting point for professional growth. Through hands-on practice and peer interaction, it aims to enhance teaching competencies, promote interdisciplinary collaboration, and foster a sense of belonging within the academic community. This workshop is considered an essential training activity for new NCCU faculty.

The target participants are primarily newly appointed faculty members within their first three years of employment. The workshop offers diverse formats covering topics such as course design, the application of digital teaching tools, assessment planning, student-teacher interaction strategies, and a guide to university policies. Distinguished and experienced faculty members from NCCU are invited as facilitators to share practical teaching insights and real-world examples.

Additionally, the program includes group exchanges and small-group discussions, giving new faculty the opportunity to connect with peers from different fields, encouraging cross-disciplinary dialogue and collaboration. The schedule also incorporates microteaching sessions, student feedback perspectives, and classroom management practice to enhance practical teaching skills.

The Center for Teaching and Learning Development is responsible for planning and executing the event, providing meals, accommodations, materials, and full activity support throughout the program. Participants are expected to attend the entire workshop. It is hoped that the experience will not only equip new faculty with valuable knowledge and skills, but also serve as a key opportunity to build professional networks and deepen understanding of university resources.
